Koo-di Bath Tap Protector

Review: We were sent the Koo-di Bath Tap Protector to review as part of our role as brand ambassadors. Part of Koo-di’s award winning bath time range, this product has two functions; to prevent your child from being able to hit the tap, and to prevent them scalding themselves on hot water/metal.

The Bath Tap Protector is decorated with the instantly recognisable Koo-di polka dots, so that it matches their other products nicely, and is fun & attractive to look at. Made from Phthalate free PVC, this fits on most single or double taps, as the opening for the tap has a flexible starburst sort of shape, opening or closing to suit a range of tap sizes and shapes.

When you turn on your tap, the water runs out of the hole in the bottom of the tap protector, so that it can stay on while you are running the bath, and you can top up your bath water easily too. The protector is mildew resistant and dries quickly at the end of each bath, so you can just leave it on the tap permanently.

On the end of the protector is a red patch with the Koo-di logo on it. When the water running through the tap protector is hot, this turns light pink, and the word HOT is revealed. We found that the colour changed quickly when the water was hot, and changed back to red at a “safe” rate.

Our only criticism of this product is that the warning word is displayed too low down – it would be better if it was a little bit higher so that you can see it when standing or kneeling next to the bath. At the moment the HOT can only be seen by children sitting down in the bath, and as young toddlers can’t yet read that isn’t the most helpful place to have it show up! I had to get my camera right down to Georgie’s sitting down eye level in order to get a picture of it.

The tap protector does a great job of protecting against bumps in the bath too; our girls love to sit facing each other in the bath to play row row row the boat, or catch with an inflatable ball, and so Georgie spends a lot of time sitting with her back against the tap end of the bath. Her head is right at tap-level and when she throws her head back laughing or wriggles about, the tap protector is there for her to bounce off rather than hurt herself on the metal tap.

We give the Koo-di Bath Tap Protector 4 stars.
