Review: Teletubbies first came out when I was 11 years old and I have vivid memories of the bright coloured characters, instantly appealing to young children, and massively popular. A new series came out last year, and Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po are all as loveable as ever, and both Georgie and Lydia have been enjoying the rebooted show.

We were sent several different toys from the new range brought out by Character Options to try out, and the girls have been having a lot of fun with them all. They loved unwrapping all their new toys and claiming their favourite characters as their own.

Lydia’s favourite Teletubby is Po (and mine too… shhhhh!) so she was over the moon to find an 8-inch talking Po. It is super soft and cuddly, and says around 10 different phrases such as the famous “eh-oh!” and “oh, big hug!” These talking soft toys cost £9.99 each which is a very reasonable price – we would definitely be happy to pay that for a talking soft toy of this quality.

Both the girls really enjoy playing with the Tubby Custard Machine toy – a pull along ride that has all four Teletubbies whirling around on their seats as the girls pull it along. The machine lights up and makes sound effects as it is pulled along, and you can also trigger these with the button on top. This one is priced at £29.99, which I think is a reasonable price – if your child is a Teletubbies fan then this one is sure to be a hit.

We were also sent a small Laa-Laa plush which Georgie has taken possession of, calling it her “Laa-Laa baby girl” and cuddling it, even taking it to Granny’s house with Daddy, which makes it an honoured toy indeed. It is really cute and cuddly, and super soft. Laa-Laa is 6-inches tall, and in a sitting up position, with an RRP of £6.99.

We also got two of the deluxe figures; a Tinky-Winky and a Dipsy. Both figurines come complete with their accessories, so Tinky-Winky has his man-bag, and Dipsy his stylish patterned top hat. These figures are good quality, brightly coloured and fun for imaginative play. Their arms and legs don’t move, which might have been better, but they are pretty good for their £3.99 price tag.

As you can see from the video above the girls really enjoy these toys, and they have been having a lot of fun with them. I think they are all priced well and the quality of each toy is great – as I’ve come to expect from Character. We give this new toy range a very enthusiastic 5 stars!
