Review: It’s a hard life, being sent chocolate to review… but someone has to do it! With Valentine’s Day swiftly approaching, Treat Republic offered to send us a few treats from their extensive range of chocolate to sample.

First up, the Amore Gourmet Chocolate Pizza. This large chocolate pizza is “life-size” and measures around 18cm in diameter ~ approx 7 inches.

It is made from solid Belgian milk chocolate and topped with chocolate curls, chocolate covered rice balls, red rainbow drops, and finally two white chocolate hearts.

The chocolate tastes really lovely; creamy with a smooth texture. The curls and decorations on top make each mouthful a bit more special than a regular chocolate bar. The “rainbow drops” are basically red smartie type sweets, adding a nice crunch and smidgen of sugar.

I think this chocolate pizza looks great – it is really tasty, and makes a really fun present for any chocolate (and pizza!) lover. I would be very pleased to get one of these as a gift. At £13.95, I don’t think it is too expensive when you consider the size of it, the novelty factor, and the fact it is beautifully decorated.

The 31 Days of Kisses gift is more expensive at £17.99, and I think it is probably not as nice as the pizza. You do get around 100g more chocolate but it isn’t quite as tasty. The texture is a little coarser than, and the flavour isn’t as creamy.

However, it is still nice chocolate and the kisses idea is a romantic choice for Valentine’s Day – I certainly wouldn’t stick my nose up at this gift, and all of these chocolate kisses will be gobbled up within the next few days, I should think.

The card that is included is lovely, reading “31 kisses, one for every day of the month… just to remind you how much I care.” The chocolates are wrapped in red foil and nestled inside snowy white tissue paper, presented very attractively in a red satin box with a white ribbon. The box is really quite nice and very handy for keeping bits and pieces in after the chocolate is long gone.

Overall I have been pleased with these products; I have bought James some chocolate treats for Valentine’s Day, and spend the same sort of price for my purchases – so I don’t think they are too overpriced. The pizza definitely tastes better, but the kisses are more romantic.

4 stars.

  1. Chocolate pizza looks yum but the lips are a little too realistic for me! Kinda spooky! But it’s the taste that counts, and the idea is very romantic. #triedtested
