What’s in our 2017 Christmas Eve box?

We might not do a lot in the lead up to Christmas other than visiting Santa (no elves here!) but since the girls were tiny we have given them a box of treats on Christmas Eve. This year we’ll be giving them their box after lunch so that they can do some of the activities in the afternoon to keep them busy and quiet! We… Continue Reading “What’s in our 2017 Christmas Eve box?”

Stocking fillers for little girls

Stocking fillers for little girls

So, I have this issue about the “stocking fillers” category on shopping sites, and I get irrationally angry about it. I happily browse the internet for ideas of what to buy in the lead up to Christmas, and click on the stocking fillers link, only to find a bunch of stuff that is WAY TOO BIG to actually fit into your average size stocking. In… Continue Reading “Stocking fillers for little girls”

Seeing Santa at the Sea Life Centre

Where to see Santa in the West Midlands in 2017

Halloween has been forgotten and we are well on our way to Christmas now, December is just around the corner – it is time to think about visiting the big guy in red, and plan your Christmas shopping… or if you are really organised, buy the last few bits & pieces! Taking the girls to visit Father Christmas is one of my favourite things about… Continue Reading “Where to see Santa in the West Midlands in 2017”

Christmas Eve Box

What’s in our 2016 Christmas Eve box?

We’ve been doing Christmas Eve boxes for a few years now, and it’s become a family tradition we really enjoy. I don’t spend a lot of extra money on them, but instead pop in some things the girls need and some of the treats we would normally buy for special holidays anyway. It’s just a lovely exciting way to package it all up and add… Continue Reading “What’s in our 2016 Christmas Eve box?”

Christmas & Me – The Christmas Tag

I was tagged by Rose from Bell and Bear to answer some Christmas related questions for ‘The Christmas Tag’, so here we go… What’s your favourite Christmas movie? Well, obviously it has to be Die Hard. I also love Arthur Christmas, The Grinch, and Miracle on 34th Street. I CANNOT stand Elf, I think it is totally unfunny & completely overrated – an unpopular opinion,… Continue Reading “Christmas & Me – The Christmas Tag”

Chicken Pox Georgie

Christmas Plans and Chicken Pox

Last week, Georgie woke up on the morning of her nativity (and our 8th wedding anniversary!) with telltale spots on her face and back. Chicken pox had struck! The last week of school was cancelled for her then & there, so no nativity performances, no Christmas disco, class party, Christmas lunch, or classroom visit from Santa. Georgie was pretty glum about that – she has… Continue Reading “Christmas Plans and Chicken Pox”

The Overtones at Birmingham Symphony Hall

The Overtones at Symphony Hall, Birmingham

On Saturday evening we headed into the city centre to see The Overtones at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham. We were given a pair of complimentary tickets to their so we could attend and blog about the show (such hard work!). The support act came on at 7:30, with singer-songwriter Ben McKelevey accompanied by Marc Danecker who played the Cajon which was fantastic. I’ve never seen one… Continue Reading “The Overtones at Symphony Hall, Birmingham”
