There was a full moon on Thursday, so I had a go at capturing it (kneeling on a windowsill in just my pants & vest top, with zoom lens poking out the window – sorry, neighbours!). I took this around midnight, when the moon finally decided to show itself above the houses in the street behind ours.
For the first time in ages, I shot in RAW as well as jpeg, and it enabled me to get more detail out of the shot. I edited the RAW file in an app called darktable, which I found easy to use. Darktable is a free, open-source, cross-platform app, so probably worth a look at if you edit photos on a Linux or Apple machine.

I love photos of the moon, she is such a comforting sight. Beautiful. I managed to take a picture of Venus recently, not clear as zoomed in on my bridge camera but I was really pleased with it.
Wow! That is perfect capture, love the details. #MYSUNDAYPHOTO is also my first ever capture of the moon. 😉 xx
A beautiful image, I’ve never been able to capture the moon very well. But have just been given a proper camera at last, I’ll have to have a go using RAW. Thanks for the advice and for sharing #mySundayPhoto

Brilliant detail; one to be proud of 🙂
I am in awe of anyone who managed to capture a shot like this in such detail and clarity, because I know it’s so technically difficult to do
Gorgeous photo; just love it!

PS: was lovely to meet you @ Britmums Live & sharing some rather loud chocolate buttons!
The moon is always such a stunning subject, really well caught 🙂
I really dont know what to do with my RAW file so I stopped taking them. Thanks for sharing darktable, will check it out! Lovely photo. Its my dream to take a photo of the moon but I dont have strong lens. This one is really lovely =) #mysundayphoto
This is just a stunning photo, I love how you’ve left so much of the dark sky surrounding it #MySundayPhoto
