Christmas is fast approaching, I’ve almost finished my wrapping, and I’m feeling pretty organised. We are having a pretty relaxed Christmas, just spending some of the day with my Mother in Law who is our closest (geographically!) relative – and our support bubble person!
To be honest, this isn’t too different to how we would normally spend Christmas, and although we have often visited my parents around New Year that wouldn’t be possible this year anyway due to them gearing up to move house.
One thing that hasn’t changed is giving the girls a box of treats the day before the main event. We don’t spend much money on this and, to be honest, it is basically a box full of things we buy for the Christmas holiday, which are made more exciting by putting them together as one big surprise!
So, what is in our box this year?
The girls’ Christmas Eve goodies can basically be split into three categories; activities, edible treats, and stuff for a fun bath & bedtime.
I’ve got a whole bunch of activities for the girls to do on Christmas Eve, and to help keep them occupied on Christmas morning too. I am going to be cooking our Christmas Dinner at Ruth’s house, so the girls are going to be taking along a selection of their stocking presents as well as some of these bits to help keep them occupied while I get my roast on.
James bought them Cluedo Junior so he is planning on challenging his Mum & the girls to a game on Christmas morning, and they have some different craft activities and activity packs to do as well. I picked up the Usborne Christmas Activity Pad which seems great for their age (7 & 9), and of course they have a LEGO set to complete too.
After I included some of their products in my Etsy gift guide post, Creative Activities were super kind and sent us these two ready to paint activity sets for us to do this Christmas holiday. The girls haven’t seen these yet, but they are going to love them!
For a pre-bedtime treat, the girls can enjoy a hot chocolate and some biscuits. I’ve bought them some cute little Frozen 2 mugs for their hot chocolates, and they love the Festive Friends biscuits, which they have in the Christmas Eve box every year – so I couldn’t not get them!
We have some other edible treats stashed away for the holidays too, and I absolutely have to pick up a Celebrations tub at some point, but these bits are especially for our evening hot chocolate.
When they saw my Etsy post, Cocoa & Crumble were also really sweet and sent us these hot chocolate sticks. How lovely is that – and how cute are they?!
James and I are definitely going to be bagsying one of these each, so all four of us will enjoy a hot chocolate together before bed on Christmas eve. I’ll make sure we stock up on cream and marshmallows by then!
The girls always have a bath on Christmas Eve, so I always pop some new bath bubbles and treats in the Christmas Eve box, along with some new PJs – which they wear all year long! This time we have a combo of Lydia’s favourite colour – pink – and Georgie’s favourite animal (well, technically they are birds) – penguins.
