Keep Britain Breastfeeding Scavenger Hunt 2013

As part of the Keep Britain Breastfeeding Scavenger Hunt 2013, I am pleased to announce that I have not one, but two Therlaine Wynnie nursing pillows to giveaway! I reviewed this nursing pillow here on my blog a few weeks ago and it received a very well deserved 5 stars!

Today is all about breastfeeding tips on the scavenger hunt, and one of my top tips when breastfeeding is to get yourself a decent nursing pillow so this giveaway is perfect for today! Trust me when I say you are going to be spending a lot of time sat on the sofa or in bed breastfeeding your baby, and a nursing pillow will make your life a lot easier.

It’s worth spending a small amount of money on a nursing pillow to make the hours of breastfeeding ahead of you as comfortable as possible! They double up as a great baby support too, when your little one is starting to want to sit up more:

  1. I used lanolin ointment on my nipples faithfully morning and night and never experienced any cracking or bleeding when I started nursing. My soreness was minimal, and the ointment soothed my skin when it was chafed. I have very fair, thin skin, so that was a wonderful tip for me!

  2. Take each feed as it comes & surround yourself with supportive people, whether this be friends, family or online. Support is key.

  3. rubbing your nipples on newborn upper lips helps in proper latching. Coconut oil is an excellent remedy for cracked nipples and is safe for baby as well

  4. Ive not breastfed yet, as im growing baby at the moment. But i am looking forward to it, hopefully it will go smoothly. Slightly concerned about logistic being bigger chested, and feeding out the house, will definitely get a scarf to cover up with as suggested by someone else

  5. My sister will be my breastfeeding supporter – she is similar built and breastfed her 2 boys, albeit it 20 years ago, but she will be great for advice.

  6. my mother is my breastfeeding supporter as she breastfed me and my two siblings. my tip for breastfeeding is to have cooling pads in the fridge ready to put on once finished feeding the baby

  7. i always found a good feeding pillow behind me and a pillow on my lap to raise the baby higher worked for me once you have a good position i find its easy and i didnt have pain in my nipples like i did with the first 🙂

  8. my daughter is pregnant at the moment so i will be her breast feeding supporter as i breastfed three children 🙂
