Review: We were sent two Dora and Friends charm bracelet toys to try out to celebrate the Nick Jr Sing Along Summer event; the Beach Adventure Dora set, and the Magic Charm Bracelet set.
The Beach Adventure Dora set has a small toy Dora with moveable arms and a hinged waist, and comes with a yellow charm bracelet and three beach themed charms; a beach bag, conch shell, and crab. Dora is in her beach gear – a pretty swimsuit, (non-removable) sunglasses atop her head, and of course a tiny charm bracelet can be spotted on her wrist.
Lydia and Georgie both like to play with the small Dora figure, and Lydia can often be seen clutching her in one hand as she curls up on the sofa to chill out. The charms are pretty much the right relative size to Dora, which means that they can play imaginary games with the charms and doll.
The charms fit fairly securely onto the bracelets using pegs that fit into the back of the charms. They seem to stay on fairly well as the girls run around the house, but when they fiddle with them they can pop off.
The Magic Charm Bracelet Set allows your child to have a charm bracelet “just like Dora’s” from the show, as well as including two of the smaller bracelets like you get with the Adventure sets. The big charm bracelet has five clipped on heart charms with pictures of characters from the show, and four points to fit charms in between.
You get six charms with the Magic Charm Bracelet, one of which is wrapped up and is a “mystery” charm that they get to unwrap and discover. Any of the charms fit on any of the bracelets, so all of their bracelet sets are interchangeable and there are lots of sets with charms to collect – it is a nice way to tie the range of toys together.
The girls both really like these bracelet sets and enjoy moving the charms about and swapping bracelets with each other. At £7.99 for the Adventure set and £9.99 for the Charm Bracelet set, they are quite good value for money and I don’t think they will be falling apart like so much toy jewellery does within a few months.
