Review: When Hotel Chocolat contacted me to see if I would like to review an item from their Easter range, I was immediately drawn to these Egg & Chips – how cool are these?! Just SO much fun!
The Egg & Chips came well packaged wrapped in tissue paper, inside a beautiful gift bag. The gift card is really attractive with your gift message printed inside.
Inside the gorgeous packaging is an equally gorgeous chocolate treat; a white chocolate egg generously laced with vanilla pods has it’s very own runny (caramel) yolk, served up with eight delicious milk chocolate chips, each one filled with more runny caramel.
The milk chocolate chips are made from a min. 40% cocoa solids and is deliciously creamy and smooth. The salted caramel hidden inside tastes amazing, and just oozes out onto your tongue as you bite into the chocolate chip. James’s official verdict on the chips? “Yummy”
As for the egg, it is almost unrealistically tasty… like a super creamy high quality vanilla ice cream in egg-shaped chocolate form! The yolk tastes as good as the chips, with the thin chocolate shell cracking open satisfyingly as you bite into it. James said it was “sweet and delicious”
We give this utterly delectable Easter treat five stars, and we are still absolutely savouring it. What a fantastic alternative to a traditional Easter egg! I think I’ll be dropping hints to James about having a second serving in a few weeks 😉
