My Sunday Photo – Sharing my bed

Home Photos My Sunday Photo – Sharing my bed

When I arrived at my parents’ house before Christmas, to my great shame, it seems I brought with me a rather vicious winter flu-like bug. Random aches & pains, a temperature, awful head cold, that kind of thing. I was able to laugh at myself for sounding like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory though – my sinuses really hurt whenever I bent over!

My husband and father, both inoculated with the flu jab this winter, almost completely resisted it – making me wish that I had gone to get one at a pharmacy somewhere. The bug quickly spread around all of the females of the family, with my Mum & both girls falling ill shortly after I did.

Thankfully we were starting to feel quite well recovered by Christmas day, but Mum, Georgie & I all have lingering coughs and blocked noses. Poor Georgie is finding it particularly troublesome at night, when her cough keeps her awake. The girls share a room, so lots of loud coughing can end up waking Lydia too – not good. As a result, I’ve ended up with Georgie in my bed with me once or twice over the past week.

I have a large (Ikea sized) double to myself at the moment, apart from whenever James is here with us, so there is plenty of space for us to share now and then… though I’m not sure how Georgie manages to always end up jamming a foot into my spine/ribs!

I took this photo on Friday night, after a particularly unhappy bedtime attempt that ended up with me lying down in my bed with her an hour or two (or three!) earlier than my usual bedtime. She looked so peaceful, finally fast asleep after all her coughing fits & poorly grumpiness – I just couldn’t resist snapping a photo or two. Once she is asleep like this she zonks out completely so I was able to read my book while she snored lightly away, at least.

    • Thanks Bex. It meant that Lydia was able to sleep undisturbed, but I can’t say the same for me! It’s very frustrating as she seems to be almost entirely ok in the daytime but at night she is really struggling with the coughing, bless her.

  1. Gorgeous photo! I can’t resist snapping them when they’re asleep either. There have been so many bugs around this Xmas, and I’ll take a cold/flu any day over the gastric bug my mum brought to ours one year!

  2. So peaceful. I hope everyone gets better soon. (We love Big Bang in this house)

    Thank you for linking up
