Review: When I bought my iPhone 4S last year, I quickly got myself kitted out with a Reveal case from Griffin, which I chose because I was concerned about adding too much bulk to my iPhone. However, I was quickly disappointed as the rubber edging of the case didn’t stand up well to Georgie’s grabbing (or any general use), and seemed to get looser & looser, so the case rapidly gathered dust & debris underneath the clear back which looked awful. The bottom opening to the dock connector was too small – it was a very tight fit with the official cable and I couldn’t use our third party in car charger at all, which was a right pain on long journeys.

A few shots of the Griffin Reveal case after a few months of use (click thumbnails to view larger):

As well as gathering dust inside the case, there was a buildup around the edges on the front where the case met the screen, and the clear back also seemed to cause problems when taking photos with the flash – an odd reflection or something caused a white glow on the edge of the photos. It got to the point where I was tempted to take the case off the phone until I could find a new one, and if it wasn’t for the fact that naked iPhone 4/4Ss slide off every surface you put them on I probably would have done!

The Griffin Reveal case & Mooskins case side by side:

When the lovely folks at Mooskins offered me the chance to review one of their personalised cases I was delighted, as I was dithering over different cases and very reluctant to spend out a lot of money again on a named brand just to be disappointed again. Even so, I can honestly say that even if I had spent the £19.99 purchase price for my new case I would still be utterly delighted with it.

I chose one of my favourite recent pictures of Georgie to put on the case, and found the upload/design process incredibly easy to use & actually quite fun! After changing my mind half a dozen times about the positioning and which exact picture to use, I submitted my order and was happily surprised at the speed of delivery a few days later.

The case arrived well presented in a handy little bag along with a little screen cleaning microfibre cloth which you can keep stuck on your case, which I thought was quite handy! The fitting instructions were easy to follow and the fit is pleasantly snug – I am completely confident that my iPhone isn’t going to fall out anytime soon.

Nice Packaging!

I was a little worried that the case would feel too thick but I haven’t found the thickness a problem at all, and the level of protection it gives is perfect – all four corners are well covered, as are the front edges of the phone. I like that the buttons aren’t covered up with rubber as they were in the Reveal case, as the rubber buttons and inside metal ones didn’t line up perfectly which made it a little odd to use. The case being cut away around the dock connector is much better as well, and I don’t have any problems with the car charger anymore, hurrah!

The Mooskins personalised iPhone case:

It feels really nice to hold in your hand – smooth enough to be comfortable, without being too slippy so that it will slide off surfaces. The print quality of the photo is really good and an added (amusing) side effect is the fact Georgie thinks it’s hilarious to be faced with a photo of herself every time I take a photo with her with my iPhone!

If the above isn’t enough to convince you that the Mooskins case is a hit in the Mama Geek household, I will leave you with this interesting factoid… my husband is also abandoning his Griffin case (the Elan Form Graphite) and will be buying his own Mooskins case as soon as he can decide what picture he wants to get printed on it!

5 out of 5 for a fantastic product at a great price point – you usually pay over the odds for personalised products but this is a great price for a good quality iPhone case, regardless of the fact you can put a photo of your choice on it!
