Review: When I visited the new Birmingham Bullring Smiggle store, I was given a rather exciting advent calendar! I really like stationery, especially the kind of funky and colourful stuff that Smiggle specialises in, so to get a stationery treat every day from December 1st until Christmas is super exciting.

To make things even more fun, the advent calendar includes a sleigh bell competition which is a “golden ticket” type idea, with finders of the sleigh bell getting a £250 voucher. There are 5 sleigh bells to be won.

I’ve had a sneak peek of the inside of the calendar – which I’m not going to share here, no spoilers! I can promise you, however, that it looks great. There is a whole host of fantastic goodies inside , and it’s lovely and colourful… here’s a little hint of what is hidden beneath those colourful cardboard doors:

You can buy Smiggle advent calendars in store now for £20, and it would make a great advent calendar for stationery lovers of all ages – with less calories than a chocolate one, too! I think that £20 is a bargain for 25 items (plus the fun factor!), so I’m going to give this one 5 stars.

    1. A lot of the bits inside are functional as well as funky so you’re left with a pile of useful and fun stuff, too. I think they’d be great for people who don’t want the temptation of daily chocolate too, if they’re trying to stick to a diet!

    1. Yes, the puzzle eraser is a big hit here too. The kids love the smell and Georgie likes to take it apart.. though she can’t get it back together again – and neither can my husband!

  1. Aw I want to see what’s inside 🙂 I am loving all these different advent calendars that seem to have sprung up recently, and a great idea to have a stationary one! #triedtested

    1. Hehe I’ve seen a sneak peek and it’s fab! I only glanced and tried not to remember any details though, I want to be surprised even though I’ve had some teensy spoilers! I’ll update the post at the end of the month with the actual pic of the contents so that people will know the quality of it for next year.

  2. Sadly, unfortunately SMIGGLE UK do not have any more of these advent calendars in stock either in store or online. Very disappointed! Company bosses have misjudged the UK market.

    1. It’s not uncommon for advent calendars to run out of stock in late November; Smiggle is a rapidly expanding company within the UK market and it would seem they judged it fairly well. The “two for £30” in store promotion in the last week of last month probably used the last of the stock. They’d hardly want to be stuck with loads left now, as they have new ones each year and it would be wasted stock.

  3. I think this advent calendar is a lovely idea for an advent calendar and much better than the chocolate ones. I usually avoid the chocolate ones but this year I was brow beaten by my girl and I do regret it. Not quite the same magic as this Smiggle one. I love it. I may try and stockpile for next year!

  4. I’m loving all the new more grown up advent calendars this year. This one looks fab! x
