In a week full of festive fun, we spent a day celebrating James’s 30th birthday. Georgie helped me to bake her Daddy a birthday cake (just like Spot in “Spot Bakes A Cake
“*) and I made the icing & decorated it with Lydia strapped to my front in my new SnugiWraps Mei Tai baby carrier – so technically that means all three of us made it together?
Georgie operated Dad’s beloved Kenwood mixer and it was hilariously erratic; going fast and slow, max and min, on and off. I am a little bit surprised that the cake rose at all, but it was actually very yummy and rose wonderfully.
To celebrate James’s “big 3-0” we went to the cinema together in the afternoon, to watch the new Disney film “Frozen” – I loved it! We left the girls at Mum and Dad’s for the afternoon, and had some child free time while we were out. I think it may have only been the fourth time we have both gone out together without them both, and the third time was to Morrisons last weekend, so that wasn’t the most thrilling expedition ever!
In the evening we all had a really scrummy meal together, with Dad cooking up a lovely beef joint with loads of pigs in blankets on the side, just because everybody loves pigs in blankets. It was a relaxed but enjoyable day, and although I wasn’t allowed to spoil him with extravagant gifts we are buying our first house together so I’m going to go ahead and say that gives us a good excuse to be watching the pennies this year.
Instead of buying him the new MacBook Air I would have loved to surprise him with, I stuck to my limit and gave him a nerdy dalek t-shirt, a PS3 game, and a personalised iPhone case. I’m a few days late saying it on here, but Happy Birthday James! xxx
