Six years

Today, James and I celebrate our sixth wedding anniversary. We got together in spring 2007, got engaged not long after that… …got married on 12th December 2008… …and we have spent the last six years making babies, moving house way too much, finally buying our first house, and making big positive changes in our work lives. …

My Sunday Photo – Horseplay with Daddy

There are some lovely, yet fairly ordinary, moments that always make me wish my camera was to hand, and last Sunday I luckily had my camera within reach when one of them happened. James was visiting for the weekend and before he left he wanted to make sure he had plenty of Lydia time… they were being silly and playing together in the way that only Daddies and their children can, and this happened:

My Sunday Photo - Horseplay with Daddy

So much joy in Lydie’s face; “Daddy is here, and we are playing together!” A few hours after this, Lydia was asleep having her nap and James drove away again, back to his Mum’s house, and back to work. BUT this time next week we will have just woken up from our first night in our new house, and we will all be living together again, for the first time this year! I am getting very excited.

One of the reasons I loved this photo so much, and this moment, was because Lydia has had so little Daddy time over the past 3 months, to see her playing so happily and joyfully with James was absolutely wonderful. Lydie is a big Daddy’s girl and it was a difficult thing to do, separating her from her favourite person in the whole world. While we’ve been staying here she has latched herself on to my Dad instead, but going by these photos I don’t think it will take long for James and his LydieLiz to regain the close relationship they had before we were “stranded in Cornwall”

And just because I can’t resist, a few more…

It’s Daddy!

James is currently visiting for the weekend, arriving after bedtime on Friday evening. Lydia just about saw him for a quick cuddle before heading up to bed, but Georgie’s first glimpse of him was this morning when she woke up, and her morning greeting was a very excited… “It’s Daddy!” Both our little girls are …

My Sunday Photo – Happy Birthday James!

30 Happy Birthday

In a week full of festive fun, we spent a day celebrating James’s 30th birthday. Georgie helped me to bake her Daddy a birthday cake (just like Spot in “Spot Bakes A Cake“*) and I made the icing & decorated it with Lydia strapped to my front in my new SnugiWraps Mei Tai baby carrier – so technically that means all three of us made it together?

Georgie operated Dad’s beloved Kenwood mixer and it was hilariously erratic; going fast and slow, max and min, on and off. I am a little bit surprised that the cake rose at all, but it was actually very yummy and rose wonderfully.

To celebrate James’s “big 3-0” we went to the cinema together in the afternoon, to watch the new Disney film “Frozen” – I loved it! We left the girls at Mum and Dad’s for the afternoon, and had some child free time while we were out. I think it may have only been the fourth time we have both gone out together without them both, and the third time was to Morrisons last weekend, so that wasn’t the most thrilling expedition ever!

In the evening we all had a really scrummy meal together, with Dad cooking up a lovely beef joint with loads of pigs in blankets on the side, just because everybody loves pigs in blankets. It was a relaxed but enjoyable day, and although I wasn’t allowed to spoil him with extravagant gifts we are buying our first house together so I’m going to go ahead and say that gives us a good excuse to be watching the pennies this year.

Instead of buying him the new MacBook Air I would have loved to surprise him with, I stuck to my limit and gave him a nerdy dalek t-shirt, a PS3 game, and a personalised iPhone case. I’m a few days late saying it on here, but Happy Birthday James! xxx

Happy Father’s Day

To the man in our house full of females, the guy who makes coffee in the mornings, changes nappies and reads the bedtime story. The Father who gets soaked at bath time, cooks dinner and buys his girls treats when he goes shopping. The Daddy who has tickle fights, gets used as a climbing frame …

One year and counting!!

My poor husband has to suffer through the yearly annoyance of having his birthday two days after Christmas, on the 27th. Usually we have Boxing Day as a “day of rest” between Christmas Day and James’s birthday, but this year that was not to be.

In addition to the fact we started the day feeling tired, James had the additional weight on his shoulders of it being his 29th birthday, which can only mean one thing… one year until he turns 30!

Pile of presents!
Pile of presents!

We started the day with presents in bed (of course!) before heading back over to my MILs once again (third day in a row) to pick up a few things we had left behind the previous evening, including my pregnancy notes & Georgie’s pillow & favourite sleeptime toys… OOPS.

My first Mother’s Day!

I was very excited about my very first Mother’s Day & had a lovely day despite an early morning wakeup time and a 4 hour drive back from Wales in the afternoon! We were in Pembrokeshire for my grandparent’s Diamond anniversary celebration on Saturday evening, and I loved being able to see my Mum at my grandparents’ house on Sunday morning before they drove back to Cornwall.

After an incredibly uncomfortable night in the Travelodge (I will be complaining & requesting a refund!) Georgie & James presented me with a card & some presents to unwrap.

Happy Accident

I find it incredibly cute that James picked out Georgie’s clothes this morning, and managed to pick her out an outfit that closely matched what he’s wearing. James is in jeans and a red t-shirt with white edging, and Georgie is in jeggings and a red and white polka dot long sleeved vest with a red tshirt on top, with white text embroidery. Aww.

Our Cornwall Trip

My (still a WIP) photobook for our trip to Cornwall a few weeks ago. We had a fab time including a few beach trips, a day out at Bude Lifeboat day, a trip to the Hidden Valley and a “girls day out” to Tavistock with my Mum (no boys allowed!).
