What’s in our 2016 Christmas Eve box?

Home Chit Chat What’s in our 2016 Christmas Eve box?

We’ve been doing Christmas Eve boxes for a few years now, and it’s become a family tradition we really enjoy. I don’t spend a lot of extra money on them, but instead pop in some things the girls need and some of the treats we would normally buy for special holidays anyway. It’s just a lovely exciting way to package it all up and add some additional excitement to the day before Christmas!

This is our fourth year putting together a box, you can see previous years boxes here: 2013, 2014 & 2015.

This year, the girls are getting some fluffy new penguin pyjamas each, the traditional new toothbrushes, and some chocolate treats – including a box of Cadbury Festive Friends, for the fourth year running!

There is also a new Minion bath sponge for Lydia and a Hello Kitty flannel thing for Georgie too. Unfortunately one of those seems to have temporarily gone walkies in the Christmas black hole that is our spare room, and the other only made it into one of the photos (oops). Here’s hoping I hunt the escaped kitty down before Christmas!

I’ve also included some sticker & colouring books, and some Bing story books, all of which which I picked up for bargain prices recently in the Works. The girls both really enjoy Bing but we don’t have any of the paperback story books, so these will be a big hit for the bedtime story stash.

One fun addition this year – and the reason I’m going to give them their box in the morning and not the evening – is a make your own Reindeer Decoration kit. Georgie has been loving her after school sewing club this term and this kit will be a great way to extend that fun. Next term she’s doing Drama club and Arts & Crafts club!

So, that’s our 2016 box. We don’t really go overboard, we just bundle up stuff they need into one surprise to make it fun! What do you put in yours, if you do one?

  1. I like the idea of a christmas eve box but I truly think my kids get enough on christmas day. I don’t want to give into another ‘fad’ and so for now my kids don’t get anything on christmas eve other than reading the usual ‘night before christmas’ and cuddle before Santa comes that night.
