Birthday eve!

Georgie is tucked up snoring away in bed, and when she wakes up in the morning it will be her 2nd birthday! This has come around so quickly and my baby girl is growing up before our eyes.

This evening James’s Mum popped round and we had chinese takeaway for dinner as an early birthday treat for Georgie (she adores chinese food!). Tomorrow we will have a healthy dinner with lots of yummy veg from our Abel & Cole box to make up for the naughtiness… followed by cake, of course.

After we ate dinner Ruth helped James with Georgie’s bath and read her a bedtime story. I love that Georgie has been able to spend time with all four of her grandparents this month, it’s quite unusual for her to see them all so much, and she has enjoyed it immensely.

I managed to squeeze in baking a chocolate cake this afternoon, thanks to the girls having a nice long synchronised nap time. I left it to cool during the evening and then iced & decorated it after Georgie went to bed. James chose the decorations whilst doing the shopping yesterday, and I think his vision must have been “pink horse standing in a pink field”. I have tried to bring this vision to life… Georgiana will love it!

I used Mary Berry’s Victoria sandwich recipe (the MB book I have includes instructions to make it into chocolate sponge – add 2 tbsp of cocoa dissolved in 3 tbsp boiling water to the other ingredients before beating), and the icing from this recipe on the Stork website. The pony and decorations are all from Asda.

James and Lydia snuggled up on the sofa while I was busy in the kitchen – my heart melted a bit when I came back in to see her snuggled up fast asleep clutching his finger. Adorable!
