While we were on holiday last week we took a day trip up the coast to Great Yarmouth, to visit the Sea Life centre there. As any regular reader will know the girls love the Sea Life centre, and as our role as Birmingham ambassadors we have season passes that allow us to visit any centre in the UK.
This morning we were up early and headed into Birmingham City Centre for the Ancient Oceans event that is running at the Sea Life Centre this half term.
Ancient Oceans allows kids to become “Dinosaur Detectives” and complete different challenges around the centre. There are bones to hunt down – when you spot one, stick the corresponding bone sticker onto the dino skeleton. Visitors get a pretend paper magnifying glass, some stickers, and a little activity booklet with pictures to colour, a word search, and a space to draw your own sea creature – all with the Ancient Oceans theme.
January was a quiet month – I started working again so was really busy with that, and the weather wasn’t amazing so Lydia & I mostly stayed in and chilled out when she wasn’t at pre-school. We had some fun crafting with some projects she got given for Christmas, including a Minnie Mouse glitter picture you can see a glimpse of in the video.
We went along to the Sea Life centre a week or so ago to visit Santa, watch the Polar Express film in the 4D cinema, and of course the penguins & other sea creatures that reside there. The girls love to visit every month or two and see how much has changed since our last visit.

Birmingham is a great city to live in, if you want to keep your kids well entertained every weekend. It’s a fantastic place to visit as a family, too. The big attractions like Cadbury World and the Sea Life Centre are great, but they will always top the lists for “places to visit in Birmingham” and usually require pre-booking, especially at busy times.

Papercutz sent us a great selection of A4 and A3 paper and card to get crafting with, and so the kids and I had some fun on a rainy afternoon doing some paper crafts last week. We’ve got some A3 cards and coloured papers, and some A4 coloured papers, cards and label sheets.
