Review: My Friend Freddy Bear

I first found out about My Friend Freddy Bear at BritMums Live this year, and was immediately intrigued by the product – an interactive soft toy that connects to an iPad (or other tablet – it works with Android devices too). Lydia is a huge soft toy obsessive, and so a teddy that knows her name and asks for cuddles is perfect for her.… Continue Reading “Review: My Friend Freddy Bear”

Review: Eli Explorer iPhone / iPad app from Colto

Georgie has been playing with this app on and off for a few weeks now, and definitely enjoys it. Eli Explorer is a “free roam” style app, where children can direct Eli to go wherever they wish, as he interacts with his environment, and speaks the names of things seen on screen.… Continue Reading “Review: Eli Explorer iPhone / iPad app from Colto”

Review: ABC Gurus iPhone / iPad app from Colto

Georgie (almost 4) and Lydia (just 2) have both been playing with this app since I installed it on their iPad, and they both love it. Georgie knows her letters and is learning all of the phonetic pronunciations right now, so this app is perfect for her.… Continue Reading “Review: ABC Gurus iPhone / iPad app from Colto”

Found in the girls Camera Roll

The girls share my husband’s old iPad, which lives in an iGuy protective case, and is filled with fun and educational apps. Georgie is very creative lately and has some great drawing apps, as well as other silly apps that end up with the ability to save something to the camera roll. Both Georgie and Lydia end up saving all sorts of randomness to the… Continue Reading “Found in the girls Camera Roll”

Geeking Out: iOS 8, for parents

Any geeky apple fan will know that Apple are currently holding their 2014 Worldwide Developers Conference. It kicked off yesterday with their opening keynote, the highlight of the conference for those of us interested in the future of iOS – the operating system that iPhones & iPads run on. Basically, on Monday Apple gave everyone a sneak preview of what your phone will be able… Continue Reading “Geeking Out: iOS 8, for parents”

Review: Woolly and Tig iPad app

Georgie really enjoys the Woolly and Tig tv show on Cbeebies, so when they contacted me to let me know that an iPad was being launched, I was looking forward to checking it out. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t have quite the same level of appeal as the tv show. The main idea of the app is to entertain children, while making every day activities seem more fun.… Continue Reading “Review: Woolly and Tig iPad app”

Geeking Out: Speed up your blog commenting with text shortcuts on iPhone & iPad

I love to comment on other blogs as much as I can, as the blogging community is a fab place to be. I know how much I enjoy having people comment on my posts to tell me what they think, and so I’m resolving to comment more on blogs when I read them. A lot of the time, I read other people’s blogs on my… Continue Reading “Geeking Out: Speed up your blog commenting with text shortcuts on iPhone & iPad”

Review: PadPivot NST Ultra Portable Universal Tablet Stand

We were sent the PadPivot stand to try out with our iPads and were initially impressed by the stand. The versatility is impressive, and I was looking forward to being able to strap it to my leg in the car or curled up on the sofa with my feet up. Unfortunately, not long into testing, the stand broke.… Continue Reading “Review: PadPivot NST Ultra Portable Universal Tablet Stand”

Review: Speck iGuy Case and Stand for iPad Mini

Our initial reaction to the iGuy upon opening it was “Wow, this looks fun… and it should do the job, too!”, and it hasn’t disappointed. James got an iPad Mini just before Christmas and is, understandably, rather protective about it… especially as Georgie can easily (and with an air of complete nonchalance) carry it about in one hand as she clambers about the room. We knew we needed something to make it more kid-proof, and the iGuy fits the bill completely.… Continue Reading “Review: Speck iGuy Case and Stand for iPad Mini”

Review: OXpwr Two Multi Purpose Battery Pack

I was sent the OXpwr Two a while ago to review (shamefully long ago; I’m afraid pregnancy, illness & other Real Life things have been interfering with the smooth running of Mama Geek!), and must admit am quite a big fan of this little gadget.… Continue Reading “Review: OXpwr Two Multi Purpose Battery Pack”

iPad Art

Georgie was having fun playing with the iPad this morning before breakfast (in the beloved guided access mode that stopped her exiting the app by accident, and allowed me to block off the settings button and iAd area). This was drawn using the Little Fingers app which is unfortunately no longer available on the app store – it’s a shame as it’s really easy for… Continue Reading “iPad Art”
