Meet Cork!

The day before Christmas, Mum & Dad opened a bottle of Buck’s Fizz for some guests, and the cork was put to one side. A day or two later, Georgie discovered it and it went from being just a cork, to being “Cork!!” Internet, meet Cork. Since Melody got a little rocking crib of her …

Soft play Sunday

On Sunday James and I decided to take the kids out for a few hours, so that we could spend a bit of time together, just the four of us before he headed back to the Midlands on Monday morning. It had the added advantage of giving Mum & Dad some peace for a bit …

It’s Daddy!

James is currently visiting for the weekend, arriving after bedtime on Friday evening. Lydia just about saw him for a quick cuddle before heading up to bed, but Georgie’s first glimpse of him was this morning when she woke up, and her morning greeting was a very excited… “It’s Daddy!” Both our little girls are …

Settling into routine

We have been staying with my parents for four weeks now, and with the exception of Christmas week, we have been settling into a fairly easy going yet structured routine. Up around 7am in the morning, Lydia comes into my bed for milk & snuggles, while Georgie, sometimes without even a “hello” for her Mummy, …

My Sunday Photo – Sharing my bed

When I arrived at my parents’ house before Christmas, to my great shame, it seems I brought with me a rather vicious winter flu-like bug. Random aches & pains, a temperature, awful head cold, that kind of thing. I was able to laugh at myself for sounding like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory though – my sinuses really hurt whenever I bent over!

My husband and father, both inoculated with the flu jab this winter, almost completely resisted it – making me wish that I had gone to get one at a pharmacy somewhere. The bug quickly spread around all of the females of the family, with my Mum & both girls falling ill shortly after I did.

Thankfully we were starting to feel quite well recovered by Christmas day, but Mum, Georgie & I all have lingering coughs and blocked noses. Poor Georgie is finding it particularly troublesome at night, when her cough keeps her awake. The girls share a room, so lots of loud coughing can end up waking Lydia too – not good. As a result, I’ve ended up with Georgie in my bed with me once or twice over the past week.

Sleeping Georgie

I have a large (Ikea sized) double to myself at the moment, apart from whenever James is here with us, so there is plenty of space for us to share now and then… though I’m not sure how Georgie manages to always end up jamming a foot into my spine/ribs!

I took this photo on Friday night, after a particularly unhappy bedtime attempt that ended up with me lying down in my bed with her an hour or two (or three!) earlier than my usual bedtime. She looked so peaceful, finally fast asleep after all her coughing fits & poorly grumpiness – I just couldn’t resist snapping a photo or two. Once she is asleep like this she zonks out completely so I was able to read my book while she snored lightly away, at least.

From the mouths of babes: I’m a rabbit!

Say Goodnight to the Sleepy Animals!

Georgie was bouncing around doing a rather good rabbit/frog hopping impression, when this conversation took place… Georgie: “Mummy say ‘What are you doing?’!” (in a very bossy tone of voice) Me: “Ok, what are you doing?” Georgie: “I’m hopping!!” Me: “Ok” Georgie: “Mummy say ‘What are you?’!” (even bossier) Me: “Ok, what are you?” Georgie: …

Georgie at two-and-a-half years

Georgiana is exactly two-and-a-half years old today. It’s amazing to think that I have been a mummy for so long. I feel very lucky! On the whole, Georgie is still her normal happy-go-lucky self, taking life as it comes and enjoying adventures and creative play. She has really started to blossom in so many ways …

Little Miss Smarty No-Pants

Something a little bit puzzling happened this morning… As I took Georgie down from her seat at breakfast time I stripped her of her PJs, as normal after her morning meal, and found a bare bottom underneath! Now, I was there when James got her ready for bed last night, and I know he put …
